I was in comm in 3fsr,depolyed to okinawa in 1966,in the 9th of 10th month of my tour I extended overseas for six months so I could go to VN,got my wish and spent 7 months in country outside of Danang in a flsu. Thought that after all these years I might see how many Marines that I served with might still be around, yours looks like a good place to start, Yours Truly Edward Mackey, Sgt, U.S.M.C

Gene, I came across your website 1st Bn 5th Marines. This is Doc
Tom O'Shea
HM2 who is to the far left of the photo taken at the BAS HIll 34
group Corpsmen pic.
I cannot believe after 35 years I have contact to the great guys that
served with me.
It seems I went to Vietnam by myself and came home the same way not
ever knowing if the entire experience was a dream or reality...until
today. I finished my tour with Bravo company and can share many stories
of my combat experiences that still seem like yesterday. I live in New
Hampton NH phone 603-744-9761 and am sitting here on
Christmas Eve 12/24/05 wishing all of you a Merry Christmas! I hope
to contact you, Gene (Rick) and other comrades in the days ahead. I
work as a Store managar for
Barons Major Brands, Appliance Store, in Belmont NH. Are there any
reunions? I
have a few marines I have to thank after saving my own life several
times and I trust they are in this network. All I remember was names
like Tex, Bigman, Alvarez, Young Cliff, Doc Gene Grode, Doc Doug
Jennings, seems stupid that we didn't write down our (real) names and addresses
then but we just wanted the Freedom Bird. I have alot of photos to
share with everyone and everyone is in them. Thanks Gene (Rick)
for your website.
