I am a descendant of Stephen H. and Nancy Hainey Harper of Edgecombe County, NC. They were my great grandparents who were born in this County. The area where the Harper ancestors settled has this documentation: 4, 1791 =============================================================== DOCUMENTATION FOR DAVID HARPER AND MARY HARPER (DORMAN)'S MARRIAGE CONNECTION: EDGECOMBE COUNTY: ROBERT HARPER, an orphan 1769 “ROBERT HARPER orphan of DAVID HARPER dec. age 15 years last March is ordered to be bound apprentice to Thomas Loury until he be nineteen years of age to learn the art of a Carpenter & House Joiner.” (This means this ROBERT HARPER was born March 1769 based on age 15 – 1784, the year his father died.)
