Let me know if you find any black sheep Harper family in Georgia. I have a book that has many Harpers from Colquitt County, but can't find my great grandfather. He was married in Athens , GA in 1910 to Leila Chambers who was from Winterville. Frank later changed the enitre family surname to Collins. He died in prison in 1951 after being incarcerated in 1847 for 5 counts of stealing cattle. No one will talk about him, so I have nothing more. can't even find one family member with a picture of him. good luck to you.

My GGGrandmother was Mary Ella Harper b. 28 Dec 1848 d. 28 Aug 1917. She was married to my GGGrandfather, Aaron Cohen, in Wilkes Co. Georgia on 8 Oct 1867. I haven't put much time into working on her line, but I am interested. Enjoyed looking at your site.

I have recently discovered that I was correct in thinking that my gg-grandparents were Amanda Frances Harper and William Thompson. I know that Amanda was part of your family and I thought that I would say hello. It's nice to be right every once in awhile! In genealogy, I have discovered to my dismay, I am so very often mistaken, but this time, I was right! So, hello, from some kind of distant cousin!

JWS Harper later moved to Suwannee County, Fl. after being released from Elmira Prison. His daughter, Nancy Hester Harper was my g grandmother and she married Stonewall Jackson Cope.
