In the late 1970's, as a very small child, I attended a riding school at Back O Th'Edge Farm, in Colne, Lancashire. It was run by John and Dodi Whitaker, and they had two sons, Matthew and Hans. They left the riding school in the late 70s / early 80s and came to live in Dolton, at a pub, I believe. They were lovely people and I have often wondered what became of them. Can anyone update me please?

What an asset this site has been!
Spent a week recently touring Devon looking for our eventual retirement home, and happened on a lovely property in Dolton, what an idyllic village! Looking forward to joining this wonderful community!

Hello again Dolton. I lived in Dolton from 1966 - 1969 with my parents Jim and Ada in West Lane, and my grandparents lived with you for a lot longer - Maud & Harry Phipps, buried in your cemetary. I come back occasionally and wistfully look around - I have a photo of the River Torridge as my screen saver! I wasn't in Dolton for very long but it made a great impression. Lovely website. Hope to see you again before so long.

Really nice site, we have been staying at Ham Farm (holiday cottages in Dolton) for years now and have found the people of Dolton very welcoming. Especially like the fish & chips from the van!

Can anyone help please? In order to work out which John FOLLAND married which of three ladies I need to know if there is a memorial stone in the grave yard to any of theses people:
John FOLLAND born 1702
John FOLLAND born 1706/07
Joan FOLLAND who died after 1755 married to a John
and argaret FOLLaND who died 1739 to see if there are any clues to her husband also John
FOLLAND could also be FOLLY or FOLLEY
Many thanks
