Hello I have been a foster Parents for 4 years now and I love it but it scares me to death about false allegations I have a best friend who is going through it right now I have watched it slowly destoy there hearts because they wnat so much to help these kids and it only took one child to make a FALSE allegation to hurt them and I am the only support they have I just want it to be over for them so the can start doing this again these children need them.

I have been seriusly considering becoming a foster care parent with the option of possible adoption. I am able to have biological children but I had decided that there are too many children already here that are not being cared for properly. I thought that it would be an investment in th future of humanity to foster/adopt children in need. I've been researching the foster care system via the internet for several months now. Ive visited dozens of foster care agency websites. The majority of them were very candid in describing the emotional and physical challenges that most of these children face. I beleived this to be probably the most demanding aspect of becoming a foster parent.NOT ONE OF THESE AGENCY WEBSITES MADE MENTION OF THE DANGERS OF FALSE ALLEGATIONS. I'm almost embarassed to say that I had not even seriously considered it as a determining factor in my decision. Your website,your story, and the story your visitors have shared have truly been an eye opener. I had no idea this was such a widespread phenomena. I'm sorry to say that in light of this new information I've decided not to become a foster parent. It is unfortunate that the very system that's supposed to protect and serve children are running potential parents away. I'm so sorry for the ordeal you and your family suffered and continue to live through. I hope that your efforts lead to a nationwide change in policies and practices within the child services. But until that day, I can not jeapordize myself by becoming involved in something that can leave me so vulnerable to accusations and wrongdoing.

I am a therapuetic foster parent. I am very leary about the many injustices of FC agencies. I am in a private agency and am fed up with their sneakiness etc and want to move to a good private agency in Ohio...ARE THERE ANY YOU CAN TRUST. We have 2 RAD brothers from Cuyahoga county which the county is trying to force us to adopt or get out of their way so they can adopt the boys out. We have hung in with these VERY challenging RAD brothers for 3 years and suffered a 5 1/2 week allegation removal of the brothers last year. I really think that permanent foster care is what they should be. We have had butcher knives under the pillow and luckily our home is not burned down yet. The lady who had the one brother before us was not so lucky, but we were told this child did not start that fire. But his brother was responsible for 3 fires. He lives with us. We have hung in here this long and are making progress in Attachment therapy after 10 months. But adoption is a BIG decision. It would be nice if the county would leave us a lone. A magistrate on Sept 21st actually told the county to stop marketing the boys on the net while we were trying to heal them. Not even one month later Oct 21st they plot to have a Presentation Adoption meeting and if we don't say we will adopt, they will appeal the Magistrates decision. I am trying to get the GAL to help, but even though she seems to support what we are trying to do for the boys, she is not very bold in using the power she has to protect these children. I am pleased to find an organization that is trying to help foster/adoptive parents who routinely suffering everykind of abuse by our so called Children services in this county. Families..GOOD families, and marriages are being destroyed, martryed for reaching out to help children. I know some and you are helpless to do anything except pray for them. Thanks for all you do.
