We were only foster parents for 5 months before an allegation caused us to close our home, we were made to feel so unintelligent, incapable, and dishonest. All because an angry child decided to get even when we would not bend on our homes rules. It is a terrible thing that this website has to exist at all, but it is a comfort to me to know we are not alone. Thanks for sharing your story!

I was a therapeutic foster parent with a private agency until false allegations were made. Thank you for your website, it has been very helpful although our situation is quite different. Several providers from this private agency are fighting the allegations brought against us by our supervisor, not the youth. Since this supervisor has been with the agency (2 months) they have lost over half of the providers. The supervisor’s bullying and threats of reporting abuse and removing our licenses each revolved around an issue where she felt her authority was being called into question. All of us have obtained our personal files from the private agency to find she has falsified documents to DHS, made reports about meetings that never occurred, and documented “findings” within our homes that were impossible and never occurred. It is wrong that one person could ruin the lives of so many parents and the kids in their care. It is so true that we are immediately viewed as guilty especially when the allegations come from a supervisor of a private agency. We have documentation that show she has falsified information and I figured DHS would at least be interested in that, but they haven’t returned my calls. I also have email correspondence between the supervisor and myself that directly discuss things that she falsely reported in my file. Why don’t they care to collect all the facts? My foster daughter, who was removed after the allegations, is hurt and confused about having to be moved. Her therapist was shocked and after awhile I was allowed 5 minute supervised phone visits when it is convenient for the new foster parents and my foster daughter asks. I am in no way allowed to contact her, nor am I allowed to speak with the new foster parents. I am not allowed to discuss with her why she was suddenly removed (although she has been told it is because I did something “bad”); she misses us and begs to come home. This precious girl is suffering abuse within the system by the sudden move without much information and she is not allowed to talk freely with one of the few people she has learned to trust-me. They changed therapists for her, which broke my heart because that was the only other person she was starting to open up to. I think the switch was made because the therapist viewed us as favorable and was willing to back us. There has to be a better way to protect good foster parents from attacks of this nature, too many people are suffering. It is ridiculous to lose the providers willing to take in youth for all the right reasons due to the "guilty until proven innocent" mentality. It has been like a dagger to my heart and I am scarred to the point that I am unwilling to return to foster care but I will fight this to the end to try to protect the youth and providers that may find this travesty in their future. Someone has to do something.

You need to correct the grammer in your website. They way you wrote it, it makes it sound like all foster children are liars. I never had a problem with a foster home, but just because I was in foster care or moved to more than 30 homes in less than 3 years, doesn't mean I am a liar.
