I am trying to find help in appealing a medical neglect against me with a foster child. I spent 4 mos worrying while they investigated a sunburn I was not present for. Now they say I was medically neglectful because the child was outside in shorts and t-shirt at school after the sunburn. He was under a shelter. Not in the sun. I was his foster parent. And I have worked in the school system for 15yrs. So this is a double whammy to my reputation.

I had no idea how corrupt the system is. When a foster parent speaks up for a child, or hires an attorney, the retaliation is huge. And the foster children are hurt. The risks being a foster parent are huge. Which is why they are losing homes much more rapidly than they can bring them on.

As noble as we are to take in someone eles's children and care for them as your own, we are just being used by the agencies. When something happens the agencies do not supprt you. Foster parents do all the work and the agencies get paid for it.

I've always wanted to become an adoptive or foster parent! I believe that I am a good Mother and have lots of love to give a child. But after viewing your website, I see that there is a bad side to becoming a foster parent. And even if a person has all the best good intentions that things can go bad! I'm so sorry this happened to you & your family. My husband and I have 4 sons and we wanted to adopt a baby girl. But i am terrified to do it now. I never imagine that something like this could happen. You would think that a child would be so gratful to have a loving family that they wouldn't want to loss them. Why lie! I do't think I will ever adopt now. Thanks for sharing your story. There are definitely two sides to every story. DCFS should have logically looked at the situation before removing the other 2 children. God Bless you and your family.
