i have a foster child that i am looking forward to adopting he came to us through cherokee county ican't seem to get them to return my phone calls to get the things uch as his medicade card----where can i turn.

I am a fosterparent in the state of Texas for 4 years and believe me the allegations are horrible the children are so system wise and the fosterparents are almost at their mercy The US government needs to listen and help us save these children because we are really raising a lost generation.

false allegations are the tip of the iceberg. changing, completely the system (check that - completely eliminating the present system) and creating a completely new model (not a system) is what is needed. Do people who follow the site have any idea what a new model would look like ?? To be honest I have no idea - not because I have no thoughts but because NOTHING about the current system works therefore a total change will involve not thinking outside the box but "crossing the street, camping out for a week, and then tossing the box and ...." I saw a Public Broadcasting show on the history of the Prosetant Reformation (Martinus Luther _-Martin Luther and how this one man took on the Catholic Church with his ideas as his only "weapon." There are allot of pieces to the story that are very much comparable to what our group must do. Move forward to the days of Martin Luther King Jr., and uncerstand that his fight (while a good and just fight) is not over by any means -- but the changes and gains black americans have are excellent strides to humanity. Take this day - Martin Luther Kings National Holiday (for many of us not a holiday - I know) and become inspired that we must also fight for what is just, fight for what is right, and fight for the rights and freedoms of the many generations that are being damaged by the policies of the DFCS. There are so many stories that even we, with all due respect to our diveristy, can understand HOW the damage that the DFCS is causing IS NOT TO JUST THE INDIVIDUAL FAMILY ACCUSED but to the many future folks that the damaged children (who become damaged adults) DAMAGE and to the DAMAGE TO SOCIETY of the folks who were FOSTER PARENTS OR ADOPTIVE PARENTS who are now fearful to even help at the soup kitchen or to shovel snow off the neighbors home walks becasue of fear being viewed and judged. the time to hold up our heads is every day; do not allow any one to bring you down. Follow your heart, follow your spirit, and stay hopeful. the hope is all we can do, for WE MUST NEVER GIVE UP ON OUR CHILDREN. This movement is growing. Good job to everyone who is working so hard.
