Your Poem:
PRIDE The dansiki clad mortal squats outdoors barefoot. Glorious and arrogant, like water skier riding waves in mid-ocean. This alien kneads large ball of fufu from bowl for two minutes. while staring at falling snow. With fingers (Oblivious to jeers from civilized friend for shelving acquired manner of gormandizing with cutlery) This regal being, dips fufu in bitterleaf soup, and loudly swallows clump, with pride beyond cabal wielding chopsticks.

Your Poem:
But the tongue Can no man tame... The devil's words Like hundreds of swords, Piercing innoocent hearts. Streams of sad tears dripping within.... From the loving heart Of CHRIST, flares his might, Shaking hell And trembling Satan... The devil surrenders, Kneeling and weeping as he repents.

Any comments about why you wrote it? One evening a friend of mine, also a drug addict, read a poem I wrte and asked me to write her one. Feeling that she was walking the wrong path in life I felt that she needed some guidance and the following poem was created. Shortly there after, she volunteered to go through rehabilitation. Today, she has been sober, and leading a very happy life. I thank the Creator for providing my friend with such an epiphany.

Your Poem:
Through infinite moments, a truth never found a life once not worth living a revelation is bound Justice in peace, a mind finally at rest, embarked on a new journey, putting one's soul to the test.

Any comments about why you wrote it? Because i hate this war. If it offends anyone I'm deeply sorry but since you have a right to be offended i have the right to have my feelings too.

Your Poem:
Your war There’s hundreds and thousands of your people dying Delivered to the death that you’re supplying Across the seas and in the sky They’ll fight for you until they die This war doesn’t have a thing to do with them Inevitably they’re stuck swimming in your phlegm Our nation’s people can’t look up in the sky and see an airplane Without fearing that it will be our lives which it maims Is that what you call freedom? Is that what you call secure? It’s pretty pitiful that our country’s safety has to be insured We pay you all our money for bombs and guns You point the finger but truly we are the bad ones There is no point to this endless masquerade But our soldiers keep marching on in your parade Attacking Iraq is like fighting sword against cannon They cannot fight back, just die in famine I’ll stop now; there really is no point in me saying this Because to you my opinion isn’t anything but meaningless s*** -Katherine Gaffney
