Your Poem:
City of Seamen “carry me” said the boy with the pale face soot from the embers of the backyard the net curtains twitched for a lifetime yet the unturned stone still remained across the docks, a whistle, a yarn for the days tales of suffering gone more "come home" cried mother hoarsley bring the bread and the mice lets have a feast of top soil and brass while father wittle away his hollow bones speak oh angel of death speak of times so fair "catch breath" weased butcher with peg and rope gather yeast of winters wind face for where is the larder if not flowing with fayre fire crack and bees wax for evr'one share "shire fool" father bellows all bristly and wise put thy lips on my shoulder kind until she shines with luck tender touch with twinder mouth be gone, young flue, be gone "bruised cat" the streets did echoe of mist take stock of the cousins whittled thimble or two twine bound lamb and sixpence to boot the plague of the goat no more "foul phantom" streets and shame so dark night air crisp when dogs do bark skin in flaps crisp on bread scabs of blood cut deep through vise spead about on cobbled dreams

Your Poem:
A LETTER FROM THE HEART To my husband in the gulf A letter from the heart I cannot stand this feeling When for so long we are apart. The days they seem forever And the weeks are dragging too It seems like an eternity Since I was holding you You went out there to liberate And for most that job is done To the joy of the Iraqi people Whose hearts you’ve truly won I sit at home and imagine The day that you come home And smile as I realise I will no longer be alone So please while you are out there Take care of yourself At home you have a family And for that you need your health. I love you more than ever And am missing you like mad And want you to know you’re the best Husband, friend and dad Take care and come home safe Jayne XXX

Any comments about why you wrote it? i wrote this for a friends mum who had lost her best friend to cancer

Your Poem:
She was a friend from heaven From the moment that we met We had no way of knowing How much time as friends we’d get But what the lord giveth Often slips away And now I have to say goodbye It is my saddest day The time that we were granted Was lived out to the full We laughed and joked together Never a moment dull Now Eileen you have gone to rest I send this message on You were a truly special friend And your memory in me lives on.

Any comments about why you wrote it? i am an army wife and have experienced how hard it is to fit in to a new circle of friends

Your Poem:
WIFE OF A SQUADDIE The wife of a squaddie now what shall I say You must support your husband in every way There will be times you despise it and times that you shant There will be times that you can and times that you cant When you’re posted away from the place that you know Sometimes you may feel that there is nowhere to go But that’s not the case, as soon you will find You will soon meet new friends caring and kind Just like many wives there will be times when you say I’m sick of the army my husbands always away You will have many nights when you’re all alone But will experience the buzz when he’s due to come home There are people in debt that sign on the dole In the army you can afford not to end up in a hole Their jobs are secure and they earn a fair wage Not many people retire at 40 yrs of age So lets stop complaining it’s getting us down When were feeling upset arrange a night down town Go have a few drinks and a damn good joke Put out the fires inside us and blow away the smoke Its not that bad even thought we all moan We are all still here none of us have gone home So lets live our lives happy and show were not barmy And get rid of the reputation of mad wives in the army
