I was born in Cawood at my grandmothers house. Sally Hall,Napier she lived on the back road there.I sure miss the good times that was there..I went to Hall Jr. High..moved to Nashville in 1969.I have two children now and three grandchildren...And I will be visiting often...

I LIVED IN THE YANCEY COMMUNITY FROM THE TIME I WAS BORNED UNTIL 1964. I WENT TO SCHOOL AT YANCEY WHEN THEY USED THE METHODIST CHURCH FOR A SCHOOL...THEN ELZO GUTHRIE SCHOOL. I WENT TO HALL HIGH UNTIL I WAS A JUNIOR...1964...THEN WE MOVED TO WESTERN KY. MY DAD WAS A COAL MINER...HIS NAME WAS FRANK BUT MOST CALLED HIM JR. JUST LOOKING FOR OLD FRIENDS.

Attended Grays Knob Grade School and
Hall High School. Graduated in 1959
from school in IL, but still consider
Grays Knob as home. This is a wonderful
web-site. I wonder if anyone remembers
when the elementary school at Grays Knob
burned and we had to be bussed to Tway
to finish out the school

I would like to locate Terry McCreary who attended Elcomb Grade School and lived in Lower Bottom. He was Charlene Freeman's brother. I would also like to receive any information at all on Mr. A.T. Simms who coached at Union College during the late twenties and early thirties. He also coached Little League Baseball in Harlan during the fifties.
