Do you have any letters written by Italians during WWII? We are preparing a book that will be a collection of letters written home by men and women in the armed forces of their countries during World War II. The book will be edited by the distinguished journalist Walter Cronkite and will be published by Knopf. We are very interested in securing letters from Italian servicemen and women that were written home during the war. If you could assist us any way, or direct us to someone who could, we would greatly appreciate it. We are on a very tight deadline; actually, we're down the last couple of weeks. The book is mostly completed and we're filling the gaps that were pointed out to us by Walter Cronkite, which include more letters by Italians. I am an American born, whose father was from Ragusa, Sicilia. My mother was also and American born whose parents came from Cervinare, Porvincia d'Alvelino. My first language was the Ragusano Dialect. We lived a very Sicilian life style. I was a teacher for 42 years, and at present am a private tutor working with elementary children. My father was Giovanni Bracchitta, and my mother was Antoinette DeRiso, from Staten Island, New York. I belong to an Italian American Club. I am interested in seeing constitutions and by-laws and interesting facts about other clubs.
