Thanks for the commemoration! Do you know about our One Institute, the oldest gay organization in the world? It is located on the University of Southern California campus and is empowered by the state of California to bestow Masters and Doctorate degrees in human sexuality and history.

This past year I met Paul J. Nash and Michael Lombardi-Nash through their website about Karl Heinrich Ulrichs, the first gay activist in modern history. But he was much more than a gay activist. He was a man with great intelligence, with a great love for his fellow man. I decided to try to make a small contribution to the gay movement by translating Paul and Mike's website in to Spanish, and later in to French. From February, 2000 to November, 2000, I took on the larger challenge of translating a principal book by Ulrichs, Gladius furens, in to French (Le glaive furieux) and then in to Spanish (La espada furiosa). This past year has had a profound effect on my life. I want to thank Paul and Mike for their tireless efforts to keep the contributions of Karl Heinrich Ulrichs fresh in our minds. Lyman Hardy
