i am a 18 year old mother of premature twin boys.their names are jordan(1 lb 15oz) and jayden(1 lb 13oz). they were born at 29 weeks gestation. when i first saw them i thouhgt that they looked like something unusual and i didn't really know what to think. when i first saw them in the nicu laying there in the little man made womb i just wonted to break dowm in tears, seeing them with all the cords, moniters, and machines just made me think to myself that this is all my fault. i spent the first night lying in the hospital bed wondering what did i do wrong? what could i have done to prevent this? to be honest that is a question that i still ask myself today. their first days in the nicu was rough. every time the phone rang my heart sanked. but i was assured that they were in good hands. i think that i never prayed so much in my life. jordan and jayden went on the breathing machine at about a month and a half and stayed on it until december of last year. they were born in september. now they are still in the hospital at 5 and a half months and they both had to get trachestomy ,but other than that they are growing and learning how to do things everyday. they can sit up and jordan can waive bye-bye. they are now 10 lb 10oz and 11 lbs. i couldnt believe that i was having twins st first but now that they are here i just cant imagine life without my two little miracles that i still thank God for everyday.

My son was born 11 weeks early and was only born at 1lb. 12oz. There isn't a day that goes by that I don't worry about how he will develop into a strong normal little boy. I remember it like it was yesterday, all of the trips to the NICU in the middle of the night just for my reassurance that he was okay and being taken care of. I didn't even get to hold my baby until he was 16 days old, and that day was the BEST day of the NICU expierence. Everytime I went into the NICU from that point, I had to hold my son. It may sound funny to some, but when my son hit the 4lb mark, my husband and I went out to celebrate. That day was one of our best days also. There were may Ups and MANY Downs his entire time he was in the NICU. It just seemed that if he took one step forward, he was taking another 2 steps backward. I didn't think it was ever going to end. The day finally came when I got to room in with him at the hospital. That meant that the day after I did that I could take him home!!! The Absolute MOST exciting day of the NICU. He did wonderful that night so the next day, he came home. 2 Days later he had his first Dr. Appointment and they found that he had a UTI, so they again, admitted him into the hospital, where we stayed there for 1 night. The next day, they told us that we would have to stay atleast 2 or 3 more days due to the UTI still being there. That night was THE MOST scarey night of my entire life. My son had choked and had a "blue Spell" right in my arms. I tell you from expierence, that is one thing that you DO NOT want to happen to you. Being a first time MOM, it just broke my heart. They get him breathing again, but ended up transporting him to the childrens hospital 30 minutes away. We stayed in the PICU there for a few days, then we finally got a room where we ended up staying for another 10 days, the only difference is that I got to stay with him at the childrens hospital. We finally came home. He was on an apinea moniter and also using a nebulizer for home breathing treatments. The apinea moniter is a bit of a scare but you get used to it. My only advice if you baby has to come home on one is, always CHECK THE BABY FIRST, the moniter could have many things wrong. Anyway, he is 4 months old now, they just took him off of the Heart Moniter a few days ago, but he is still doing his breathing treatments. He is also 9lbs now and doing VERY well. Well... that is my story. If anyone needs any advice that I might be able to give, just e-mail me at urtexazangel1@sbcglobal.net.

My little miracle Ella was born on the 10th May 2006 at 26weeks gestation. Weighing 682grams. She wasn't breathing when she was born and she had difficulty breathing by her self for a long 80 days in hospital. She is now nearly 10months old and she is doing everything a baby does at her corrected age and the doctors can't find a single fault with her. she is just perfect and i thank god everything turned out to be all o.k. ahe just couldn't wait to discover this crazy world.

Hi, My name is Melissa, and I would like to tell you about a child named McKenna. Mckenna came in to my life on April 11, 2002, She was 1lb 7oz and 12 ins long. I had her at 25 weeks. It was a hard up hill trip, but on Aug, 12, 2002, McKenna came home. She is now almost 5 and is running me wild. I needed someone to let me know that my child was going to be ok back in 2002, so if anyone need to talk to someone that has been there, e-mail me. God looks over the tiny ones.
