Mt daughter, Reese was born 2-24-07 at 27 weeks, 2 days. She was 1 lb. 8 oz. She is still in the NICU, now 1665 grams (3 lb. 11 oz.) She is dealing with a moderate to lg. PDA and Stage 2 ROP. She is finally off the vent after 8 wks. and now on a high-flow nasal cannula. I am having a hard time, any advice would be appreciated regarding coping with all of this.

Hi, My name is Amy Dunne i am a third year psychology student at Keele University. I am doing my final psych dissertation on premature birth and any affects it has later on in life. All the info that i have found seems to be very scientific and negative. I really want to find some positive information about being born premature. I myself was born 8 weeks premature in 1984. So i also have a self interest in the topic. Do you have any information, statistics or case studies that i could use? i believe that being born premature can influence the person in a positive way. Maybe the fight for survival at an early age transfers into life and into desires to reach goals. Determination, independence and the will to fight for what people believe in. I'm also interested in looking in to the relationships between the parents/ caregivers of the premature babies, and how that relationship has developed. Any information or help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thank you for you time. Yours faithfully Amy Dunne amydunnegood@hotmail.com
