Cassiah was born a month and a day early. She weighed 4 pounds, 11 ounces at birth. She was so small i could litteraly hold her in the palm of my hands. I was only 17 when i had to have the emergency c-section which saved my daughters life, and probably my life as well. I had what's called pre-eclampsia, which is a blood pressure problem that can occur during pregnancy. I don't even remember goign to the hospital, just waking up to hear her very first cry and kissing her fore-head before i went un-concious again. Cassiah will celebrate her 1st birthday next week, and is perfectly healthy. Although she is still pretty small weighing only 16 pounds, she is learning very quickly and is already walking without any problems. I am very thankful to have her in my life!!!

My daughter was a preemie born at 1 lb 9 oz. She was in the hospital for 4 months, and had no birth defects. She didn't fully walk until 2 years old and talk until about 2 1/2 years of age. She is now 4 years old going on 44 with more conversation and personality than you can imagine. She is definetly our miracle baby.

After a year of trying to get pregnant, ( I have PCOS and was taking fertility pills) I was blessed with my first baby! Unfortunately at the 12th week I was told I had contracted CMV and passed it to my baby. The doctors advised me to terminate the pregnancy since CMV can cause severe mental retardation, blindness, deafness and possibly death at birth. I am religious so I decided to continue the pregnancy and leave it in the hands of God. At 32 weeks and 5 days I was admitted to the hospital with severe toxemia and delivered a beautiful AND completely healthy baby boy named Elijah. He was only in the NICU for 2 weeks! I was blessed, and so far me and Elijah are doing great, he is my little "miracle" baby.

Our little guy Logan was born at 28 weeks on December 10th, 2007. At an even 2 pounds, 15 inches, he was rushed to the NICU about 15mins away from our hospital. All the doctors and nurses kept asking what made me come in. Simply put, he wasn't moving much in my tummy. Had we waited one more day, he would have died. My blood pressure had spiked for the first time during my "up til then" normal pregnancy...Causing fetal distress. Logan ended up with something very uncommon, a thrombus in his heart. This was caused by an umblical cathedar inserted when he was born. Logan spent 53 days in the NICU...1 month less than what they expected. He came home with no oxygen machine and just on a few medications for reflux. He came home January 31st 2007 at 4 1/2 pounds! Many docotrs visits were to follow. But after 6 weeks, those doctor visits began to disappear. He did have Stage 2 eye disease, which cleared up 2 months after he came home. Our little guy is going to be 9 months old(actual) Sept 10th, 2007. He weighs over 17 pounds and is now 26 1/2 inches. He has been eatign solid foods along with formula for the past 6 weeks. Sits by himself, and just pulled himself up to a standing position for the first time this week! Next month he is back for an echogram of his heart. It will be 6 months since his last scan to see if the clot is still there. We're praying his body absorbed it and it is gone. A roller coaster of emotions from the beginning, but I sit her now planning his first Birthday party. My husband and I wonder if hsi birthday will be a mixture of good and bad emootions. Re-living what we were doing 1 year ago that day when he was born, but celebrating where we are today with him. Happy and healthy and catching up quickly to his fellow peers. We are a different breed, parents to a preemie. Nobody knows, unless you have been there...and then you truly grasp how precious life is. God Bless!
