I have two preemie miracles. My first Kailey, was born 5/27/03 at 27 weeks. She weighed in at an even 2 pounds. During her 7 1/2 week stay she encountered: RDS, ROP, Apnea, 3 blood transfusions, bi-lateral hernia surgery, ventilator for only 3 days! and oxygen for a only a few more. feeding tube for fist 6 weeks and our biggest scare, a grade 1 and 4 IVH (Brain bleed). now 5 1/2 years later, last month she was diagnosed with diaplegic cerebral palsy. although mild, still a concern as a parent.. She is also haveing some difficulties in kindergarten and is being tested for special classes (Ot, PT....) she is also taking physical therapy outside of school 3 times a week to help the CP.She also has glasses for nearsightedness. today she is healthy and weighing in at 33 pounds...5% on the chart which is a first!!! Addison was born at 33 weeks on 1/21/07 and weighed 3#15oz She was only in the hospital for 8 days to for growth! She is a healhty, normal curious 2 year old! I developed preeclampsia with both pregnancies and HELLP with 2nd. Although I got further in the 2nd pregnancy, I was sicker. I am so greatful for my miracles!!

All of the stories and information I have read on this site have touched me deeply and I can't help but tear up as I sit here and share in these struggles and triumphs with you all. Our case unfortunately did not have a happy ending as our daughter Taylor Nichole Housley was born too soon at 20 weeks and did not survive. There is a flip side that has become of this though. We are coming into our 4th year of fundraising for March for Babies and I am also in the process of going to school for my nursing degree to work in Labor and Delivery. This is in thanks partly to the amazing nurses who's compassion and honestly helped me and my family through the hardest time in our lives. I strongly believe that there needs to be more nurses like them and I have made it my life's mission to do so. I take every oppurtunity that I can to spread awareness and contribute to this critical cause. To say I hope that all the families going through these times can stay strong just wouldn't cut it because I know that you will break down and I know that you will feel like you have no control at all. Maybe we don't, but we can always hope in our hearts for the best for our families and for that of all the other families standing by our side whether we realize it or not. Best wishes.
