I am a 55 yr old preemie - born 8 wks early and weighing 2.5 lbs - I am looking for information regarding ones health as we age and whether or not being a preemie makes any difference? I'm borderline ADD, stubborn, honest to a fault, have lots of animals that I am passionate about and artistic and creative. I would appreciate any information to send me in the direction of more information.

On June 8, 2009, i had my third baby girl. She was born 11 weeks early and weighted 2lbs and was 14 in long. The night i went into the hospital i was having pain like a stomach ache and tried to sleep it off. It felt as though i was going to die as the night was going on.I woke my boyfriend up to take me to the er.When i got there they told me that i had preeclamsia.when they told me that they had to take the baby i started crying.i was taking to another hospital that had a nicu. She is very strong and will be home very soon. she weighs 4lbs 6oz at 2 months old. I think through all of this i had to be very strong and pray that everything was meant to be.

Today, My first child was born, I was not expecting it yet, and I have a ton of things to get ready, but thats not the best part. This morning was like most others, except for my fiance, who was 33 weeks along had started to get some cramps, ( Which I assumed were Braxton Hicks ) so in a valiant effort of bieng a good father, we loaded into the car and made a scenic drive.... to the hospital, when we arrived her contractions had quickened to 3 minutes apart (if you have ever been in a car with a woman having contractions....)
the nurses took us to a room, had me start the paper work, and began the check. When the nurse said " well, your 9 1/2 cm's dialated and your having a baby today, my life turned upside down.
I suddenly had a mission.... I didn't know what it was but I had one...
As we made it to our room we had a swarm of nurses doctors and premature baby specialists... it was an amazing show of this hospitals staff. in 10 minutes we were ready to deliver a baby. we had the most amazing nurse who I will be forever greatful to I will refer to her as "Dot" and 45 minutes after we had walked into the door, we delivered my son, Colton Christopher Simmons, he is 4lbs. 14 Oz. and 17 inches long. as I have adopted the job of chaufering the family's up and down to the prenatal unit over and over, I have decided that this is arguably the happiest day of my life, although I will be spending the next 30 days of my life camping in and out of a hospital... I couldn't be happier! I would personally like to recommend this facility and staff for anyone's first time, or last time at giving birth.
we now have a world of other problems to deal with, but after a day like this one, I know I have nothing to worry about.
God bless all parents, prenatal, expecting. I hope you have the luck that we did.
