My baby was born at 30weeks 5days and weighed only 2lb 2oz, I only went for a growth scan then next thing I knew I was been told I had to go in for an emergency c-section as he would be safer out than in me. The doctors told me if we had left it any longer then we both wouldn't be here now. The 1st few days were horrible as we didn't know if he would survive. He spent nearly 8weeks in hospital. He suffers with reflux but has done so well. I was more poorly than he was. He's my little miracle baby.

I gave birth by emergency c section on Oct 28th
2009 to my beautiful baby girl, Amelia. She was 8
weeks early and weighed 4lbs 8 oz. She spent one
month and one week in the nicu. It was really hard
as I am a first time mother and had never even seen
a baby that small. She had no breathing problems
thank goodness she was as healthy as can be,
minus her bouts of apnea. The only trouble we had
with her was when she was discharged from the
nicu. We were given a can of formula that they were
feeding her with and told us to follow the directions
on the can. I've never made formula before so i did
what they said, to use the enclosed scoop. But the
scoop in the can was 1/4 tsp instead of the original
scoop. We noticed the formula was watery and that
she was drinking 200 ml every 2 hours when she
was only supposed to be having 90 ml every 4
hours. We also noticed her normally calm
personality was gone she was always crying, and up
til then i had only heard her cry twice, the day she
was born and when she got her hep b needle, and
she felt a bit lighter. When we got into our family dr
we realized she had lost 200 grams (she was
discharged at 2810 grams) we couldn't figure out
why until she started crying again and i took out a
bottle to feed her and the nurse and i discussed the
look of the formula. I thought it was watery
because my breast milk was no longer being
added, and i had checked the directions a hundred
times, even got my boyfriend to double check in
case i made a mistake. When the nurse got a new
can of formula out and opened it to show me the
scoop, i cried so hard. I had unknowingly been
starving my premature daughter. We've been in
contact with the nicu and they told us that
something is being done about it. To date Amelia is
back to her normal self, she only cries when she's
hungry, she sleeps all night and is gaining weight
like a little piggy :)

Please forgive the link. I don't have this story anywhere else. I thought I'd sit down and write it, if for nothing more than for this contest. I hope the story touches someone. It's the story of the birth of my daughter 2 months early to the day, at 3lb 14oz

My Daughter was born 3 1/2 months early at 25 weeks gestation, weighing in at 1 lb 1 oz. She was on a ventalator for over a month, and had a chest tube. She is truly a miracle baby as she has avoided almost all major issues with being this small and young when born. No PDA surgery, No ROP surgery, no belly problems aside from some small reflux in the begining, no brain bleeding. She will be a year old on Saturday and we praise God every day for the miracle of her! For those of you out there going through this... prayer works!
