My father, Lt. Leonard L. Dawson, was assigned to the 601 AC&W from 1953 to 1956 I believe. We then moved to Eglin AFB, Fla., Keesler AFB, Miss., Stewart AFB, Newburg, NY, Hancock Field, Syracuse, NY, and back to Keesler AFB in '64. He retired from the Air Force as a Major after 26 years in '69 at Keesler AFB, Miss. Does anyone remember him? He flew P-47s during WWII and C-47s while stationed in Germany. Just wanted to let anyone who might be interested know that he passed away yesterday at the age of 84 where he lived in Gulfport, Miss. He attended the 2000 reunion in Gulfport, and he spoke fondly of meeting friends again after so many years.

Arrived at Rothwestern in October 1948 at age 17 and left three years later in October 1951. I have many fond memories of this great assignment. I was a radar operator at Gunpost and remember most of the traffic being the Berlin Airlift.

Got to Rothwesten around Jan. 1952 as DF operator at Gunpost. Roomed with Jack Niles until he rotated and then took over as Transmitter editor and Info Svs. Departed in 1955, but after about 10 months, was returned to same desk where I stayed for a few more years, with Ernie Weatherwall. Now, I live in Nurnberg. Would welcome a chance to meet or email others who were there then. Best wishes for a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Dr.Robert Szarvas will be getting a new email address soon: gitmo12000@yahoo.com

Was a member of the 621TCF from 75-78, radar ops. Stayed at Wiesbaden AB during the Creekswap move that sent the 601TCS and 611TCF to Prum. The unit had some memorable times, including our TDY to Sardinia,IT. for a multi-national mission. Good memories of good friends "78" left Germany, spent a year in Gila Bend, AZ. Then on to 963AWACS before leaving the AF.
