Assigned to 601st ACW Sqdn at Pforzheim on 27 Dec 1955. I was an A/2C just out of 11 months of radio relay school
at Scott AFB. Arrived with Leo lane, Franklin Hoak,Bruce Millsap, and Darryill Starling. Sent directly to Siemens microwave school in Munich (6
weeks) then back to Pforzheim which had no radar or radio equipment at
that time. I was required to work out of my career field so I requested a
transfer and lucked out. I was reassigned to the site survey and inspection team working out of the squadron under Capt. Johnson. There were five of us, the Captain, one tech (Rufus Respres),two staffs (Nelson & Warner Kastell), and me. We had two UHF comm vans mounted on trucks and pulled 10kw generators. Went all over American and British Zones conducting site survey tests between various mountain tops. Also visited most of the various ACW & radio relay sites. Stayed at Pforzheim for approximately one year, after which, team was transfered to 501st TCW at Landsthul. It was a great life. While back at the 601st, we slept late and hung out at the snack bar, and when in the field, we were on per diem.

I was in the 601st AGE Shop, 80-84.
I was just in Prum back in March, and the Air Station is totally delapitated...it's a mess. Hardly recognizable at all. What a shame.
My daughter, Jean, who still lives in Prum just had a baby girl, Mia Poindexter. So the legacy carries on.
Hi to all who remember me...

I was with the 615th at Neubrucke from 1982 to 1984, often TDY to Sembach with the 603rd, went to Siegen for training in January 1984, and Lauda for other training at other times. Seems no one likes to admit we were there. I am looking for Ron amick, capt Zavislack, Capt John Byrne, MSGT Butterbach, Amn Sheila Capps, and Captain Jim Collier. Anyone knowing any of these people and their whereabouts please call me on my cell phone at 407-733-9461...
