I am a teacher and I found this page because I was searching for Shoshone legends/stories. Painted Turtle's web page has many stories listed but not the origin. Could you tell me if any of the stories are Shoshone?

Very nice .. very well done. I'm very much interested in the mounds. They really do connect to all the major pyramids and stone-circles .. and; they also connect directly to the major "fixed stars" and Planets in our sky .. at the "Y2K" (year-2000 A.D.) moment of New Year's Eve, 1st of Jan. 2000, GMT, Sidereal zodiac, neutral lat/long, and adjusted to "Alnitak ecliptic longitude" .. where Alnitak is the ecliptic prime meridian "marker-star". This transcends all religions. And this refers to "NIBIRU" .. apparently a smallish brown-dwarf companion-star to Sol. Too much to go into right here ! (-; Yes .. the mounds certainly are sacred.
