Currently looking at the many options of scopes available with a view to purchase soon. It's a minefield with many reviews revealing inconsistent quality of products. So far undecided which scope and mount to go for. Budget is around £3000 GBP / $5500-6000. Best regards, Rich Broome

I have just been given a cheapo 60mm refractor and am in the process of discovering what it will and will not do.

Hi Alistair, thanks for constructing your site. The fact that you were inspired to create it, in order to help beginners to find the info that you had to search for, is a credit to you. I had a small refracting telescope when I was about 12, and wish I still had it, unfortunately my "discovery" of Jupiter went unpublished !, but I will never forget the family excitement. I am 43 now, and just have a pair of old WW2 binoculars ! So I am seriously considering getting another, (probably another refractor, depends what I can justify !). Your site is a great help. It stands out because your enthusiasm for the subject shines through. Along with your understanding of the beginers viewpoint, it makes it a very easy and pleasant task to absorb information on the subject!. Many thanks for a great job, well done. Regards from Dave

I always like a site that deals in small telescopes. I have been observing for well over 30 years and have never felt a need for a telescopes over 120mm. My main instrument is a 80F5 that gets used almost on a daily bases weather permitting.
