I was with A Co. 36th Eng. in Vinh Long in '70-'71. Was just talking to another friend that was there at the same time, Lee Gardner. We worked in the repair shop and on the asphalt plant. Would like to hear from more of the guys. Esp. Jeffrey Pierpoint, Pappy Nelson, Hanlon, Jim Allen. Great site, keep up the good work.

Great Site; I was in Vinh Long with the 36th Bn,Company C from March 1970 to Feb. 71, Spec.5, First Cook fed many hungry bellies. At this time I am a Senior Mechanical Engineer (Civil Servant) with the Army National Guard Bureau, Engineering Division. Isn't that a crock, working with the guys who were "NG" (Not Going) to Vietnam.

I was the first person in the 36th Engineers at Ft Irwin..an as a Spec4 the highest ranking until Sargent King arrived..He would have me take policeing actions..He turned out to be my Sarge in the motorpool where I worked as a Mechanic.. When the Battalian left for Nam My wife was pregnent with our first child so I got a deferment until the baby was born. I did go to Nam and was stationed with the 570th Supply Co as Support for the
605 Field Depo Long Binh..1967-1968.
