In the summer of 1958 I worked as an aerial mapping photographer for K.B. WOOD, an aerial surveying company in Portland. I think my pilot and I were among the first group of people involved with mapping the Deer Park missle base. I remember when we went to the city hall to get to the keys for the airport, a lady there said"Oh, you're here to map the missle base!!" . Big secret. We would help the surveyers, then do our aerial photography. Our home base was Troutdale airport, near Portland.

Wow! Bob White contacted recently contacted me (he found me via classmates.com). Bob and I were part of the initial 'replacement' BMATs that got up in early 1962 - straight out of Basic, Missile Electronics at Amarillo AFB, TX and Missile/Crew training at Sheppard AFB, TX. I see there is a picture of Richard Barry's R-11 Crew (1964) that I am in. Thanks for all the memories that this has brought back to me. Cal

I have several photos of the Atlas located at the Alabama Space and Rocket Center. She is in a sad state of despair. Just laying there. I found this site through some paperwork my Dad had. He had brain surgery on 2/16 for 2 aneryusms and suffered a stroke on 2/18. Since then, he has had many strokes and other serious complications and is currently at his house in Benicia (where we live) and Hospice is here. He's not in any pain and seems to be comfortable but is quickly slipping away from us. I've notified Bob Weeden & of course Bill Baldwin knows but I wanted the rest of you to know also. Just found this website several days ago. Boy did it bring back a flood of memories, almost all good!!! I particularly enjoyed reading the Reflections and Recollections of people even when I didn't know them personally. Will try to submit some recollections of my own if there is an interest, about life on alert underground around Spokane.
