Thanks for your encouragement HC. Did you watch the match? I don't think Southampton disgraced themselves but Arsenal were the stronger team and got the win they deserved. Hope Benly's not too miserable :)

Bad news here in Cyprus, because of SARS,all the asian students will have to stay in Cyprus of the summer(i've some very sad and hot friends as it gets to about 40 and very hot) as they might not be allowed back in,and the new students will not be allowed to come until September, when they will have to be screened :( Ok thats all folks good luck to you all,if you are doing exams this month :)

Aya (M) is not talking of SARS in case you have any suspicioun. She is also referring to the Golden Week for school holidays in early May. Anyway, SARS is a big news around the world and I've learnt a new word, "zoonosis" which should be pronounced like zouanousis instead of "zuu--". A strange word for a strange strain.

We have just had a bank holiday in England too. My husband and I went away for the weekend with some friends.

(Duane, I'm not sure when the '4 digit number' feature appeared! It doesn't seem to work as a spam precaution. My husband is building a new message board at the moment (well, now and then at the moment! In between more urgent things!) so I should have one built to my own specifications soon!!!)

Hello to all of the Japanese students. My name is Duane and I assume you must have been introduced to Jo's Message Board by your teacher. It is really a very good place to practice your English and the people here are friendly.

My wife and I had two different Japanese girls stay in our home for a few weeks in the summer a few years ago. It was a wonderful experience for all of us. I think I learned as much from them as they learned from us. One of the girls was from Osaka and her father was the Chief of Police in Osaka. Her name is Toshiko Tanaka. The other girl was from Tokyo and both of her parents were teachers. Her name is Fusako Uchiyama. They were both very delightful young ladies and excellent ambassadors for their country.

One of the funny things that happened when they were here was they we liked to take them for trips in our car. We wanted to show them some of the beautiful sights that there are around this part of California where we live. The funny part was, every time they got in the car and we got to the areas that were most beautiful, they were always asleep. I guess they were so tired because they were always going so many new places and seeing so many new things, they were just worn out.

I hope you will continue to post messages when you have the time. It is very interesting to hear about you and to read your stories. Thank you for writing and sharing with us.

Jo: nevermind. I just realized that I have to enter the four digit number in order to have the message appear on your board. I guess I will try again. Duane
