Haruka: One big difference between Sacramento and LA is that in Sacramento, you can see the blue sky. I grew up in Southern California and the neighborhood that I live in now is a lot like the neighborhood I grew up in down there. A few minor differences but the cleanliness of the air and water is much better up here in Sacramento. The further north you go, the better the air and water become. I think the number of vehicles on the freeways and the large number of industrial sites contributes heavily to the air pollution in the LA area. I think the geography of the area doesn't help either because the whole valley is in a bowl that doesn't allow the polluted air to escape.

Haruka: The trees in the first picture are just starting to leaf out. They were taken in early spring. The trees are called Fruitless Mulberry. You can see the same trees to the right of my truck in picture #3 and to the left of my truck in picture #4. They are wonderful shade trees, as you can see. I hope these pictures work for what you had in mind.

Duane, thank you for pictures. They're very much like what I used to see when I lived in L.A. What's the name of the tree in the first picture? The tree doesn't look familiar.

Thank you, Jo, for posting the pictures of my neighborhood (neighbourhood). The first picture was taken in the early spring, the second was taken in early summer and the other three were taken in July. You can tell the lawns are starting to dry out.
It is interesting to see how you and I live in different neighborhoods. I like both of them. If you ever come to Sacramento, you have a place to stay.

Haruka: I will send a picture to Jo so she can post it in her gallery. I think I sent some pictures to her before but I did not ask her to post them. I don't know if she still has them. They were pictures of my house and yard. I will check with her and find out. I hope the pictures help in your discussions.

Duane, Thank you for your encouragement. I always say to my students to dismiss embarrassmentin learning a foreign language. By the way, we did a discussion on the picture "Jo's street"in her picture gallery. Would you post a picture typical of area you live?
