My grandparents, Alexander and Marie Schaefer Roth came from the Volga region also. They came from Balanda, Grimm, Saratov area in 1912. I would appreciate information about them and their families that did not immigrate to the USA. Very nice site here as well.

I found a few connections on your site. My grandfather was born in Neu Kolonie in the 1880's. I found a common name in Marienburg and a common connection. His name was Alexander Riebel and he was Catholic. I am looking for any living relatives. His father was Frank Riebel, mother-Katia Stepmother-Anna, brothers-August, Fabian, Michael. Alex followed brothers and father to Saskathewan in the 1900-1910's. He lost contact after he settled in Pennsylvania. he feared the returned to Russia and died in the famine or fighting. Any information, please contact me at marycauller@juno.com.

Grand parents would talk very little about the time before they came over in early 1900's. The best we understand Grandpa (David Gienger) came from a place called Funtal South Russia and Grandma (Karolina Dockter) was born in Mairenberg South Russia. Note the spelling difference. I am wondering, is that normal or is there a different place in South Russia with that name? I love learning about my heritage!!

Looking for information on the Johann Trefz/Treftz Family from Marienberg. Johann was born in Marienberg on June 3, 1884. He later married Lydia Doerr from Kassel and they had two daughters born in Sofiental before immigrating to the US on May 4, 1911. They lived the remainder of their life in McIntosh County, ND. Would like to connect with the Treftz/Trefz Family.

Hallo, I'm a monk from Switzerland living actually in the north of Italy, where was build in the eleventh century a monastary of benedictine monks called Mount Mary, in German Marienberg. If you want, you can see our homepage which still remains in the beginning. I hope to remake it till summer. Nice greetings and yours father Gregory
