Hello,
I am visiting DC for the next 30 days and would like to see what off-roading is like in this part of the country. As I am only here TDY, (I work for the government) I am without my Jeep (a modified 1960 CJ-5) but would still like to get out and see what the countryside around DC has to offer the off-roader. I was hoping that I might visit with some local club members and perhaps ride along on any trail rides that might be taking place over the next two weekends.
I live in San Angelo, TX, a semi-arid desert region (quite different from DC), with lots of dust and rock crawling, quite unlike the lush, green landscape I see around here. Our 4x4 club in San Angelo is the Conch 4-Wheelers, http://www.concho4wheelers.org and I am a member in good standing (I was VP for the last 2 years). My normal email is Gravreif@cox.net, but while in DC, I am temporarily using AOL for my email.
So, if any member knows of anything going on in the next several weeks, please contact me, as I would love to tag along with anyone heading out to the trails.
Thanks,
Jordon Reif

Hi,
not sure if it is appropriate to ask a question here, but you guys look like you know what you are doing, so. . .
I live in DC and just bought an 88 4runner. the guy who owned it lifted the body 3 inches and has some wide, 33" tires on it. I think he did it pretty cheaply and it bounces around a ton - i am wondering if you can recommend a mechanic in the DC area that could help me toughen it up a little? thinking about lowering it and toughening up the suspension a bit, and putting on some smaller tires, .
Thanks!
Aaron

I have a 1995 Jeep wrangler YJ 4.0L 3" suspension (via re-arched leaves), and 3" body lift, 36x12.50 Super Swampers on 15x10 Black Keystone simulated Beadlocks, Luk stage II clutch, stock 4.56's (open), Ramsey Rep8000 winch, custom cold-air intake (modified from 1993 Honda Civic), custom 1" throttle body spacer, Dynomax Performance Exhaust, Rear seat delete (HaHaHa!!!) Glad to see a club that is relatively close to home. I am interested in joining, but due to my work schedule it will be difficult to make it to most events, and meetings. I only have every other Sunday off. Is it still possible for me to join?
