Good news sa amin ang Absentee Voting Law pero bad news naman ang pagkakabasura ng Anti-Money Laundering Law. Ipagdasal natin na makapasa na sa standards ng Financial Action Task Force ang AMLA.

Expo to make OFW and SME families productive slated at PTTC
An exposition aimed at making the families of the overseas Filipino workers (OFWs) and small and medium entrepreneurs (SMEs) productive is slated at the Philippine Trade Training Center on June 27 to 29, it was announced yesterday by the Pamilyang Overseas Filipino Workers-Small and Medium Entrepreneurs Network Foundation, Inc. (POFW-SMENFI).
Organized by the POFW-SMENFI in cooperation with the government agencies and non-government organizations concerned with the OFW and SME families, the event dubbed “Pamilyang OFWs-SMEs Expo 2003” is the second Philippine one-stop-shop opportunities exhibit and conference for the OFW and SME families. The POFW-SMENFI -- which aims to empower the OFW and SME families through information, opportunities and benefits -- holds office at 53 18th Avenue, Murphy, Cubao, Quezon City with tel. nos. 912-58-03 and 437-16-60 and e-mail address: gearcom@philonline.com.
POFW-SMENFI President George A. Arriola said the expo is in support of the Pres. Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo’s concern for the welfare and benefit of the country’s close to 8 million OFWs and their families as well as in response to the government;’s effort to support the development of the SMEs.
Arriola said the main objective of the exposition is to make the OFW and SME families productive by making them aware of the various job, livelihood, investment and business opportunities being offered by the government and the private sectors.
The OFWs or ”modern-day heroes,” who remitted over $8 billion annually to their families here, contributed to our country’s economic growth and sustainable development, On the other hand, the SMEs or “engines of our economy” continue to provide the much-needed boost to our economy. Despite the prevailing economic slowdown worldwide, the SMEs continue to provide jobs and create wealth.
