Bakit iba-iba ang balita tungkol sa Absentee Voting Law? Matutuloy ba ito o hindi? Sayang lang ang panahong iniukol naming OFWs kung hindi ito matutuloy.

I would like to ask the assistance of the Pamilyang OFWs-SMEs News Bureau to check with the Securities and Exchange Commission if the OFW International Holdings, Inc. -- which holds office at Suite 100, G/F National Tobacco Administration (NTA) Bldg., Scout Reyes corner Panay Ave., Quezon City, Metro Manila -- is registered with the commission and if the holdings corporation is authorized to solicit funds for its OFW Bank Project.
As of now, they are using their website to solicit funds from would-be OFW investors in the amount ranging from US$220 to a maximum of US$10,120 to be deposited to the account of Overseas Filipinos Worldnet Foundation, Inc. with Account No. 124-002-0838 in the Banco de Oro Branch in Timog Ave.
I read in their website that “While the fund accumulation is ongoing, the OFW International Holdings Inc. was formed and has been registered with SEC. By March 2002, this stock corporation exists for purposes of operating several operations that are less capital-intensive compared to operating a bank. These businesses will be operated under the management of the OFW Holdings while fund accumulation for the OFW bank capitalization continues”
I also read in the website that the OFW Net Foundation, according to its chairman Eddie del Rosario, has an estimated net worth of P7-10 million and has about 500 members worldwide. He said that he was expecting its members to increase from 1,000 to 1,500 by the middle of the year and from 2,000 to 2,500 by the end of the year.
He said the each member, or what Del Rosario called “founder-investor” has invested a minimum amount of US$220 and a maximum amount of US$10,120.
It also said that the Holdings recently signed a MOU with the Department of Labor and Employment and the Technology Livelihood Center to promote and implement schemes aimed at reintegrating OFWs to the mainstream Philippine society. They are expected in Dubai on April 30 and in Kuwait on May 2.Ths is after visiting Jeddah, Riyadh and Al Khobar in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.
I wrote to you in order to check the activities of this foundation which I think may lead not only to another Philippine “investment scam” but a “GLOBAL SCAM!” that is targetting the 7 million plus OFWs.
I hope you will tackle this in your radio programs at DZRJ and Kabayan Radio this Saturday and please ask other government agencies concerned to be a part of the program. Salamat po and mabuhay ang OFWs!
