I was stationed with USAF at Wethersfield 1957-1959. This was my most enjoyale assignment while in the military. I really enjoy the site that has been setup about Wethersfield.

You know...I don't think that sounded right. I loved my time there. The shirts were sold as kind of a joke...yes, I still have one! Some of my greatest experiences were from that tiny base, but it was some of the best times in my life! My father was head of Logistics there from the early to mid 80's, so I'm a brat that remembers the place fondly.

I just found this site and had to sign the guestbook right away! How many Wethersfields could there be anyhow? I spent part of my childhood there in Wethersfield...not to far from Lakenheath. I hope I spelled that correctly. :) And the funny thing is...is that I decided to search because I got the shirt for survivng and just wondered if the memories remained for anyone else. It's so nice to meet all you.

Further to may earlier message, I have attached a link to the website of the MoD Police and Guarding Agency, for those who want to know a bit more about us, the current occupants of Wethersfield.

I am the current Chief of Staff of the Ministry of Defence Police and Guarding Agency based at Wethersfield. I was very interested to visit your site and surprised to see so much current interest in the Base by those who have many memories of being here in the past. The Agency which now occupies the site would be interested in offering some assistance to past residents who might wish to revisit the site and see what has changed since they were here, in exchange for hearing some of the history and tales of experiences from when it was an operational airfield. We might be able to arrange a brief tour for a limited number of bona fide ex residents, subject to security checks, which as ever, still have to be taken seriously. Is there an organiser who would like to email me to see what we might be able to offer?
