I lived in Braintree in the early 60s met my husband bill thomas who worked in crash rescue. We were later stationed at Woddbridge and Bentwaters. Our last duty station was back at Wethersfield from 80 to 84 Bill was the Fire Chief and planned and put on the last air show given at RAF Wethersfield which was a great success. He brought in aircraft from all over the world, he received many writeups in the local papers. We have two sons, one was a dormie at Lakenheath and has managed to make contact with many of his old friends. His name is Bobby Thomas. Bill passed away from cancer Oct 2003.

Bob, your site has been like a magnet drawing me back daily for the last 4 or 5 days. I have read every guest comment. My stay at Westhersfield was Feb 1958 - Aug 1959. I would appreiciate any help anyone can give me in loacating a couple of long lost friends. Edward "Ed" Lemming who worked at base personell, he was originally from Olympia,WA and Max Ingram who worked in air installations,Max was from Ureka, CA. Ed married a lady named Dawn in 1959. Again thanks so much for dedicating your time to bring so many memories to the airmen of Wethersfield. I worked in the Air Base Group Orderly Room and bar tended at the airmens club. If anyone remembers me give me an email.

I have been asking all my friends to see they can come accross any site where they have served. Nobody has come up one yet. It was accident that found this site. My wifes family migrated to US from Cornwall and I looking at various locations where I had been in the UK and Wow I found yours. Thanks again for your contribution to your fellow airmen providing these great memories.

This is to update my last guestbook entry on page 8 of the RAFW guestbook.I have changed e-mail address since then. I am permanently retired now both from the military and civil service. My wife (Betty) died Dec. 26, 2002 so now I just kind of bang around the country visiting my kids, various assorted relatives and old friends. I just got back from a month long stay in Hawaii over christmas visiting my youngest son. He is set to retire from the AF July 06. I still think often of my days at Wethersfield (Oct 61 - Oct 64) with great fondness (except for those "Razors Edge" alerts the commander kept throwing at us every so often). Take Care all you Wetherspatchers...Wes
