I was glad when i found this web site. I have often thought of the years we were in Wethersfield. My dad Msgt Clayton Atkins was stationed at Wetherfield in the 80's. I would liketo talk with all my old friends from a great time long ago. I used to hang out with Sam Dennis, ricky james, carmen bennett sheldon banks and many more.

I was stationed at RAF Wethersfield, 20th AP, later SP Squadron 1966-1969. "B" Flight L/E Desk Sergeant and later Flight Commander. Left Wethersfield and went to Vietnam for thirteen months. Am a retired Methodist minister, and currently on the board of directors, Victory Mission of the Americas. Am also on S/S and VA disability, 100%, results of exposure to Agent Orange while on combat patrol in Vietnam. Email me!!

I am updating my last update thanks to Mr. Robertson. I was in the 20th A&E Squadron, airborne radio, from Sept. 1965-Aug.1968. Best assignment I had in my 20 yrs in the AF.

Was at Wethersfield on "Operation Short Spurt" from Nov 63 until Feb 64. Had a great time in those few short months. Do you know Leroy J. Nevel who was there at that time? If you do, please let me know.

I was assigned for one short but memorable year (69-70)as the Chief of Admin Svs. My wife, Audrey, and I lived in Braintree but we left with her pregnant with our first child. We became very friendly with our next door neighbors, Harry and Shirley Nesbitt, at 13 Strawberry Close. Went back to visit in 73 but haven't returned since. See reference to "Mushroom Farms" and Finchingfield. Remember them well as well as the "Morris Dancers", the crocked buildings in Laveham, etc. Have lost contact with all our AF associates and never crossed paths. Retired in 1992 and presently live in N.Central FL. It was a good tour and we hope someday to return.
