Greetings all. This is an update from a previous post. My father, Doc Leeson, was a civilian stationed at Wethersfield in the late 80's. My sisters and I attended the school on base and I am looking for old friends. The two primary people I am looking for are David Miles and Tina McKee, though if you have contact information for Samuel Parks or Mitch Roundtree I would certainly like to hear from them as well. I only have a few other names. Valerie hunter was in my class, although I was too shy to talk to her, and I have gotten in touch with her sister Melissa Quinn. Melissa Hunter was a year or two ahead of me and was clearly the prettiest girl in school (or all of England for all my 6th grade mind knew) but I didn't know her either. If anyone can help me contact my old friends, please feel free to email me. Also, if you knew and/or worked with my father and would like to get in touch with him, I would be more than happy to pass along a message. Thanks all...

I am trying to trace or family of a Joseph Bettis or Berris Stuart who was based at RAF Wethersfield for a period of time up till 1957/58. He was in a relationship with my mother-in-law Dorothy. She became pregnant with my husband who died aged 34 in 1991. We had 2 sons together who are now 27 and 29. They have often asked about their american grandad. I am not trying to cause any friction just trying to build a possible bridge to our past. Any contacts would be treated in the strictest confidence. Even a photo of him would be good. Thank You. Debbie

1973-1976
OK, it took 4 Parts. Gee, my calculation was off a bit.
I played in Right Field (& was also a Comm weanie "AFCS") But, we were more like M*A*S*H than M*A*S*H, because of our mischievousness and what we got away with! During the prep for the U-2 Deployment, we discovered that "AFCS" stood for "Always Fricken Cleaning Something". As if Cleaning wasn't enough, we were put in charge of painting too, and nothing was too sacred, including toilet tanks and even a few toilet lids! Ask Ron Parks wife about the blue ring on his butt!
I still think about those 22 wins we had, thanks to the arm of Jack Holum, and about Wethersfield getting put on the map & written up in Stars and Stripes. And, to top it off, '76 was the Summer so hot that they quit watering the Queen's Garden, right?
Saturday home games were a blast, very festive, and crowded with lots of locals too. We definitely had "home field advantage" with the support we had. Sometimes in the hundreds counting almost everyone on base and the local Brits.
The locals were such good people and another of my fondest memories was getting to know them, along with the home-delivery Paper Guy, the Milk Man, and the weekly Open-Air Veggie Truck!
My last act in the military was the Change of Command Ceremony when Hugh L. Cox III (Col) was replaced. Since I was "Out-Processing" (and already a Civilian) and leaving in a couple of days, I chose to wear a Burgundy Tie to the Ceremony in my dress blues (definitely out of uniform but it did look real good), and after a chorus of laughter and loud applause as I walked across the street to take my place in the formation, I was excused from the Ceremony. Got away with that one too!
Well, anything for Troop Morale!
It was good to find the website and see a couple of names I recognized and could still remember after 33 years!.
Take care and email when you can.
