I was a screw up RMSN from 66-67, who was kicked off the ship and out of the Navy in 1967. I made a comeback and have served many years on active duty and in the reserves since then. I'm presently stationed as a reservist in the ER at Naval Medical Center San Diego. I eventually topped out at CWO4, and as of the date of this writing, I'm one of only two CWO Physician Assistants left in the Navy -- we're both in the USNR. I have no desire to retire until they force me out with high year tenure, and I'll probably be able to say until I'm 60. I owe a lot of people in the radio shack of Reeves apologies from my tenure on board. Please contact me. I also owe BM3/BMSN Romanowski from the deck force some money if anyone can help me find him.

I was the first RP onboard the REEVES from 79-83. I arrived in Hawaii then we transfer homport to Yokosuka. It seems like yesterday when I was onboard. Memories are like drops of rain in the desert something precious, something to be cherished.

I was a field service rep for the ship's Mk119 computers build by Ford Instrument.
I rode many DDG' and DLG's but I have to say that the officers and crew I met while I was on the Reeves were the best. I was on the ship from its commissioning in Bremerton to Long Beach and have a copy of the Reeves docking in L.B. I will try to get it on this web site. I was sad to hear that she was gone.

Served on board the Mighty Reeves in Yoko, JA from July 85 to April 87. Worked the broadcast and HF during exercises. I was onboard for the First Trip to China with CINCPac ADM 'Ace' Lyons in Nov. 86 and the many trips to the Gulf and the North Sea. I'm sure the Soviets were glad to see her go. I got a picture of the CCCP Minsk upclose after we snuck up on them while their guard was down. Those Reds scrampled like chickens when they finally caught sight of us. I find it ironic that a air strike took her to her grave considering she could've laid waste to the whole Aussie Air Force in her day. Best AAW ship in the fleet, they had to change the rules for anti-air exercises when she was around. By the way, the break away song was the William Tell Overture (Lone Ranger Theme) unless I have lost my mind. Served with some of the Ironmen listed here and I still have the cloth patch that shows Ironman crushing a plane with the ship in the back(1986). Served with great pride onboard the "Best Cruiser in the Fleet." May she rest proudly under the sea that she helped protect and may the memories of her live long in the hearts of the best sailors in the Navy...Reeves Ironmen.

Greetings Shipmates,
I just moved to this land-locked State a couple of years ago. I'm originally from the Texas. I would love to hear from you guys. I was an ETNSN on the Reeves from 1971 to 1974.
I would particularly like to hear from anyone who worked in Ship's Laundry. I'm trying to find the guy who witnessed to me about the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I wanted to thank him.
God Bless you ALL
MAX

Reported aboard Nov 63 and spent 2 1/2 years on the best cruiser in town. Would steam again anytime anyplace with REEVES and her crew. Extremely sorry to hear of her demise, but at least she won't be turned into razor blades like so any fine ships. "Give me a tall ship and a star to steer her by".
