What a ship!!! What a crew!!! I was a Reeves Ironman from 88-91. Capt. Bill Center was probably the finest there is. Still remember some great times onboard the finest ship in the Navy. LCDR Murphy holds special memories since he was both my XO and, as a young ensign, he was my DIVO. Delbert McDonald, where are you? Senior Chief Lee, where are you??? And, never forget, RM2 Bradley Ward, where are you??? So many memories. I could write forever and never cover everything Reeves means to me. Reported aboard as a ETNSN, April 1966.Departed Reeves as ETN2, Nov 1968. Cadillac of the Fleet. Finished my military career when I retired @ 60 yrs of age from the Army Reserve, SGM. 38 yrs 3 months total service.

I hope you won't the wife of an IRONMAN writing this note; but my husband, Captain David McKinley was CO of Reeves 89-91. He retired from the Navy in '94, but still supports the Navy working in the JTAMD area. He is outside in the garden as I write, but please feel free to contact him via my email anytiime. He would love to hear from any Reeves IRONMAN. When she won the Golden Anchor, the Navy knew which ship had the best crew! Did you know she was going to win it the following yr as well, but SURFPAC didn't want the same ship winning 2 yrs in a row.Great ship! Great men!

I was on the Reeves from 1969-1973. I was a part of the recommissioning at Bath Iron Works in 1970.
