Am researching the family name Rounsefell/Rounsavel/Rounsivel. John Gard Rounsivall (as signed by him on his marriage cert.) was married in the Parish Church of St Breoke in 1857 to Mary Bray. He is my great-great grandfather. His father Thomas, was a carpenter. John's occupation in 1857 was a carpenter, and in 1858 at the birth of his daughter Mary Frances, was described by his wife as being an 'Iron Man'. When Mary was married in London in 1878 he was an 'engineer'. I have yet to find the date of his death. There was talk in the family for many years of a connection with the Duke of Morpeth. I should like to find what this connection might be - something prosaic no doubt such as an illegitimate birth or employment as a domestic servant. Can anyone tell me if the Morpeths had a residence in that part of Cornwall?
