Interesting information on the white tail spider. I am sure I was bitten by one in bed and the resulting blister, followed by swelling and infection was very slow healing and painful. Still have lovely round scar similar to one on your site. Just confirms my suspicions.

About 2 months a go, I developed a rather large red and blistering rash on my neck. After immediately going to our local hospital and questioning whether it could be a white tail spider bite, I was given a steriod and antihistamine tablet and told that it was more likley an allergic reaction to something I had used. Unfortunately, the tables were little help abiet making me drowsy. After that I saw another 2 G.P.'s over a two week period, both of who, still diognosed it as an allergy rather than a spider bite. After visiting your site and reading the possible reactions to white tail bites, I am sure that this is what my so called allergy is. It took 4 weeks for the initial (for lack of a better word) rash to clear, but have recently been having recurring break outs in the same area. It frustrates me the ignorance of these doctors. They were so quick to dismiss the fact that it could have been a white tail bite and not an allergy. Keep up the good work. People, especially those in the medical profession, that need to know a bit more about the reactions associated with little but very nasty pests.

Hi all, I have not been bitten myself but have heard a lot about these little b's. I have heard that if you have daddy longlegs spiders in your house then there will not be any white tails as they are the natural prey of daddy longlegs. Just the other day someone else told me that they had been told the oppersite.ie. If you have daddy longlegs then you will definately have whitetails as they feed on the longlegs.
Can anyone tell me the actual facts so I can be sure one way or the other. I would hate to be "cultivateing" daddy longlegs in my home and only attracting whitetails by mistake.
Thanks for your help, and for the informative site.
Regards, Craig.

Hi, I just found one of those revolting White Tail Spiders outside and it's the first time I've seen one of them. I didn't realise they were so large! How utterly foul! We killed it of course. I just had to get on the net to see what it said about them as I knew they were extremely dangerous. Great website! Thanks. Karen
