I respect and like 99.9% of law enforcement officers. I wouldn't want the job but then I guess that's why I didn't apply. Law enforcement is like any other large group, just a microcosm of society. There are good / bad and UGLY. This deputy smells ugly to me. So far Animal and Mark Infield have said it all. If the Sheriff and his Deputy were smart they would learn from other public figures who made mistakes and be straight and get it over with. If they choose to unjustly rule over their domain then this issue should hound them in the public until election day. Justice needs to be served, don't let this issue die until the entire Sheriff's Dept. is overhauled. Bad career move on the Sheriff to stand with this Deputy cause he will bring down the entire Dept. I would also suggest the Deputy be a real man and resign, before he further shames the entire Law enforcement community. Sometimes earthly justice lies in God's domain. This Deputy may have WON his little game of cat and mouse but he'll live and die with what he did. God knows the hearts of all men, in his heart this Deputy knows the truth. The facts seem obvious to anyone interested enough to review them. As long as this country asks it's men and woman to die for freedom then we as Americans have a responsibility to protect those freedoms. Public outcry is needed here. Don't be afraid to speak out. If your voice is silenced by fear than you don't deserve the freedoms that brave men have fought and died for. I ask of you to be brave and fear not or you will live in fear all the days of your life and that would be far worse than an honorable death.

As the attorney for the Abney family, please recognize that there are limits on what I can say at this time. But we were terribly disappointed in the D.A.'s press release which stated that the cause of death was Tiny's "failure to stop". As I told one T.V. station, "failure to stop" kills lemmings - a two ton squad car killed Mr. Abney. So that Tiny did not die in vain, and to prevent further senseless, lawless tragedies in the future, we are committed to getting a pursuit policy in place in this Sheriff's department and in every Sheriff's department in the State of North Carolina. Today the Sheriff held a press conference. He is now claiming they had an "oral" pursuit policy. How pitiful is that?!? While our hearts go out to Rene, Ben and Jesse, and frustration rules, we must try to keep faith that the legal system has not spoken its last word on this subject. Some good will come of this yet. Thank you for all your support.

I just got word that the cop in this case won't be charged. I sit her not even knowing which direction to go with this. At the time of the chase, not a high speed chase, an at speed limit chase, all the cop knew is that the biker was not stopping. Did he know that he may or may not be under the influence of any substance, no. Does this mean that if one were driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol, doing the speed limit, having committed a few minor traffic infractions that the cops have a right to legally run us down & kill us? Does this mean if we are uncomfortable in the surroundings, do not feel comfortable pulling over in that exact spot & try to drive someplace we feel is safer, does that mean we are instantly a criminal & deserve to die on the spot? I have a major problem with the fact that a police officer in "pursuit" can drive so closely to the vehicle in front of him that he either runs him down or can not stop in the event he went down on his own. The cop was driving so close & so fast that he shoved a 300lb man & a 700lb bike into a ditch under his car. That takes some effort. And yet we are not even charging him with failure to control his vehicle? Am I the only one that sees a problem with this? I will be the first one to admit that if a person is running from the cops & drives them self into a tree thereby killing them self then it was their decision & the cop is not at fault. But that is not the case here. Tiny died from blunt force trauma from the cop car running him over. Had he went down on his own without the involvement of the police car he surely wouldn't have died. Apparently if you are a cop you can follow someone with your lights on & if they don't stop you have the license to kill them. I thought they were trained to know the definition of deadly force & when it was acceptable to use it. Apparently I'm smarter then these cops because I can clearly see that ramming a motorcycle with a motor vehicle will almost always result in serious injury or death. I'm glad that I live in an area where our local police are prohibited from embarking in a high speed chase with a motorcycle. They see and acknowledge the danger in it. They believe that a person should not die for a minor traffic infraction. I pity the people that have to live in the area policed by the Randolph County Sheriff's Department in North Carolina. I'd be afraid to allow my children to drive through that area for fear they would make a poor judgment and be senselessly killed as was Tiny. For those of you who live there, be wary of Randolph County deputy Rodney Coe, he has a license to kill.
