For all of you who have shared your opinions on this matter, for all of you that think the world is a better place without Tiny just for the fact that he had done meth, I want you to do something & think long & hard about it. Go back & read the posts that have been made by Ben & Jessie, Tiny's 19 year old son & 17-year-old daughter. Their life has been turned upside down. They are suddenly thrust into the most extreme of adult situations of which many of you have yet to experience. Read what these kids have written. They feel in their hearts that their father was wrongfully killed by a police officer & yet they are cordial, respectful & thankful to all. Is that the product of an out of control crack head? I think not. Our children are the product of their upbringing & these kids are outstanding in my opinion. We worry that they will follow the wrong path in the confusion & anger of this situation & yet every time they speak out it is amazingly well thought out & level headed. Tiny may not have been the perfect citizen that you all think you are but he was never ever some crazed crack addict that the police want you to think he was. There is more then one side to every story & so far the only one you've heard is the cops. I have the accident report, which will be posted shortly with full explanations of the codes. It clearly states that the cop failed to reduce speed & that he rear-ended the motorcycle. The cop was doing 45mph & the motorcycle 20mph when the accident occurred. The top speed of the chase was 60 mph in a 55 mph zone, hardly a high speed by any standard.

Thank you all for all that has been done for our family. I have read every opinion on this site, and I know that that is all they are. But let me say one thing to the ex-cop; you don't know me or the rest of my family, so how can you say that you know we'd be better off without Tiny. And just to clear things up, he was getting off of the meth. As a matter of fact, he stood in our laundry room and told Ben he was done with it, and that he wanted to change. I will never forget all of the times that I spent with Dad, and I will never forget the memories that I have of him. Ya know just one day before he was killed, we went to the grocery store in the middle of the night, and I was driving, and all that he said to me; among other things as well, was that he loved more than he could ever show me. And that he was sorry for all of the things he put all of us through. I will always miss Dad, but knowing where he is give me the only comfort in trying to swallow all of this. I pray for all of you that knew Dad, because where he made a friend, he kept a friend, and this is just as hard for all of ya'll too. Everyone is always welcome to the Abney home, so please come by. Daddy, I will always love you, and will always be your Jessie "Lee"
God Bless
Jessie

Tiny's death is a tradgedy. I know of no Police Dept. that condones the raming of motorcycles during vehicular pursuits. I'm a retired motorcop from a major police Dept. with 25 years experience. The one thing I do know for sure is Tiny was headed for a violent end in one way or another. When you mess with Meth you are doomed and are already as good as dead. If you are hooked on that junk you are no good to anyone. I do wish the best for Tiny's family but do believe they are most likely better off without him.

If Tiny pulled over... He would be here today... He made his decision, under the influence of methamphetamine however. As with all in life, "You wanna play, ya gotta pay!"
RIP Tiny...

A Rockford police officer has been charged with vehicular homicide in the death of a Knoxville man killed in a motorcycle crash on March 10.
The charge against Sgt. James Ray ``JR'' Johnson, 33, Highway 72, Maryville, came in an indictment returned Wednesday by a Blount County Grand Jury meeting in special session.
Johnson is accused of using his police cruiser to force Phillip Mickey Laton's motorcycle into a guard rail on the Stock Creek Bridge at the Blount/Knox County line on Old Knoxville Highway. Laton, 27, apparently died as a result of the impact with the guard rail.
Johnson was notified of the indictment and warrant for his arrest. He came to the Blount County Jail at 1:55 p.m. Wednesday escorted by fellow Rockford Officer Bill Allen, entering through the sally port where those in custody are turned over to corrections officers.
Johnson was photographed during the booking procedure in his street clothes, not wearing the top portion of the black and white striped jail uniform others being booked are told to put on before the photo is taken.
He was fingerprinted and provided booking information to corrections officers before he was released on a $25,000 surety bond pending a 9 a.m. Sept. 10 appearance in Blount County Circuit Court.
