Hi,
I have just found your website today whilst researching my cousin - Francis Joseph Galvin QX23022 especially his time as POW. I have hardly stopped reading your site and have learnt such a lot just today. I was knocked out when I clicked on the Kranji page to find that the first headstone was that of my cousin Francis.
I have found his name on your nominal roll page. What is the significance of the 3 different colours of the entries (orange, blue and black)?
I recently paid for digital images of his service records to be published online and these are now available. His B884 file contains a photo negative and I have emailed the archives people to ask what image is on the negative. I am hoping it is him at his enlistment as we do not have a photo of him as an adult.
The information in his service record confirms most of the information that you have about him. I can't decipher all the writing in his file but I think the cause of death reads 'died of illness whilst POW Malaya (Med _________ Cardiac Respiratory limb)'. It gives the source as M PW PA.
He arrived in Malaya on 24 Jan 1942 and the entry for 25 Jan reads 'Detached and posted to HQ AIF'. He was classified a Signaller I G ii just before he embarked on his journey to Malaya. His record confirms that he was assigned to F Force on 20 April 1943.
There is also an entry for 6 Feb 1942 which appears to read 'T.O.S. ex A B E' except the letters B and E are written back to front. I would be very grateful if you could explain what this means.
I think it says somewhere on your website that the battalion war diaries contains details of those who died. I have found the 2/26 war diaries on the AWM website but these only go up to 15 Feb 1942. Are any later ones available via the internet? (I live in UK so am reliant on the internet).
Last but not least, could I have your permission to take a copy of the photo of my cousin's headstone in order to send it to my aunt in Ireland. She recently sent me a photo of Francis as a child and I would like to send her this in return. I recently ordered a copy from the war graves photo project but your image appears to be much clearer than the one on their website. The photo will only be used within the family and is not intended for publication.

I have been looking at the 2/26 Website – Nominal Role for information regarding:
Raymond James Stickley – QX20217
Sydney Anzac Stickley – QX12347
Both were Uncles of my son-in-law.
Could you please tell me what the heading “FCE” stands for?
Why are some entries in blue or orange and other black?
What does the * mean at the end of an entry?
What does “William Fc” stand for?
Thank you for any help you can give us, and I must say the information we have gleaned from the website is the fullest we have been able to discover about these two men.
