PURCHASED MASTER GRADE CLASSICAL SIZE SITKA SPRUCE TOP SET FOR LUTHIER
To Alaska Specialty,"Master Grade" means just that. The boards I received will add greatly to the guitar they'll be used on. They are sequentially cut, with strong medularies - fine, straight, even grain. They have a perfect even color. There's no grain slope or run-out -- the grain is aligned providing the top with tremendous strength. More importantly, not having any run-out doesn't decrease the speed at which sound is carried through the top. Since the grain fibers don't terminate at the surface, lenthgwise sound transmission is increased and internal friction or damping is decreased. The set of Sitka Spruce Top Plates are the best I've ever seen and will make a beautiful looking and sounding guitar ... for sure. My thanks to Brent and his Staff at Alaska Specialty Woods.

I just purchased 2 dozen tops as part of a special sale. The tops looked great with plenty of width. Best value I have seen. I teach first time guitar builders,s o they appreciate being able to build their first guitar without breaking the bank!

I ordered a few flame soundboards, and they arrived last night. The grain pattern on these pieces is beautiful, and the grain is very tight. The tap tone is bell like, and I can hear that these tops will have great response in both the bass and treble. Thanks for great service and quality.

I had a Mando top that looked very good when I recieved it but as I planned it to thickness for carving, a pitch pocket appeared that made the top pretty much unusable as a mandolin top. Well I notified the folks at Alaska specialty woods, emailed a couple of photos my neighbor took for me along with an explaination. A new top arrived in the mail after about a week. Pretty good service I must say. Thanks for the good response, my project is underway without delay.
