Anzac Day is only a week away [2009] and with the ranks of the WW1 Diggers thinning, I often wonder how many of the Australians in the Spanish Civil War are stillalive - in spite of the article about the unveiling of the plaque in Canberra 'by the last known veteran'.

Thanks, Clarrie Jefferies was the 1st cousin of my father (Raymond Steel, NX195010). He had the nickname of "Horrie" after another uncle. My own Grandfather was his uncle 4 yrs younger.

Hey, great site. I can't imagine how much of your life was devoted to putting this huge amount of information together - it's insane.
A contribution you may not be aware of though, Very Pistols are also used in the fire service and have been greatly appreciated for their exemplary utility and effectiveness. They're a great tool for us, and a fantastic example of a military weapon providing even greater use in a civilian capacity.
