Quick regards to the para section of SAS, Airborne regt and para. The berets are, infact, Maroon, not red as red was used to identify Military Police and various other regiments such as the Hastings and Prince Edward regt. Airborne soldiers are identified with the maroon beret.

Looking for the death penny of Frederick robert English. this is my great-grandfather. saw a pic of the penny on a Canadian millitary site. The person in charge of the site contacted the photographer who found the penny being sold on ebay. Unknown seller and unknown buyer. This person was kind enough to realize the importance of the plauque, not knowing who this soldier was but placed the pic with the right soldier. I appreciate that a lot, but now I'm trying to find the plaque. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Bruce mitchell

Greetings-I spent the day reading letters sent by my dad from 1942-45. He loved NZ, NG, and Australia when he was in the US Navy (Ammo ship Pyro). Lots of interesting reading on your website. I'm trying to find the meaning behind a Canadian medal we have but no luck so far. Love to hear from anyone with knowledge of medals from 1857. Not selling just want to know what it is.
Thank you troops and vets.

Oh dear! Scrolling down the same page as indicated in the post below, I come across the information that the light cruiser HMAS Sydney was in commission at the end of WWII (1945).
She was sunk on the 19th of November 1941.
Do you want someone to proof-read your entries about Australian Naval history? I'd be happy to oblige.
