Tried to email this using link on web but bounced as refused!?
Absolutely excellent and so very useful site. Reason I was
looking is that I've just come across some subdued AMF, CF
EVIIR and Cadets EVIIR. Interesting to compare the minor
differences in position of crown in relation to map on the
AMF ones.
One rider though.
First page shows two buttons labelled 'Victoria'. Cypher on
these buttons, unless my eyes deceive me, is the scripted
letters GPO as denoting General Post Office. This version was
used in UK from VR through to GVIR. Changed to modern
lettering for EIIR post 1952.

my grandfather and grandmother were posted to Larkhill in 1927. He had been in the Royal Artillery since 1906. They were given married quarters in steel houses where it was like an oven in summer and a fridge in winter. I spent the first 18 years of my life in Amesbury. My aunt who was born in Larkhill still lives in Durrington. It was bleak then and still hasn't changed. Salisbury Plain is awful.

Just took a brief tour & enjoyed you very educational site. Never relaized the extent of Austrialian committmet to SVN. I knew you were there as I served along side some Aussie units north, south & west of Siagon in 66'& all of'67. Not sure of these units name(s). Was in US Army's 199th Inf. Our Bde. was in SVN btw.'66 / '70. Apprx. 24,000 served in those 4+ years. 199th took 5436 casualties - 757 KIA. Thanks go out to you & your fellow countrymen for your service and hard earned accolades - if the S/E Asian communists had not been opposed like they were, well it's hard to tell what the region would have evolved into during those years - nothing good I suspect. Regards & Best 0' luck! Lew H.

I have a small brown button, inscribed australian
military forces on front, back inscribed with duperite
(early plastic?) and 1834 date. How old could this
button be? would imagine duperite not around in
1800's?
