Enjoyed surfing through the guestbook. Found a old shipmate that I have not heard from in over 30 years. I was at Ft. Allen from May, 1970- December,1971. I worked in the CommCenter Section III. My primary duty in the commcenter was in the DCS section. I remember us affectioatly being referred to as TAPE APES. Those were the good old days. Looking forward to the reunion in St. Louis. Pensacola was a blast. Tom

Glad to have found this site! I was stationed at the station from July 1979 through the decommissioning. I helped pack up the communications equipment for removal, and stayed through the early stages of the conversion for the Haitian refugee tent city, then transferred to Rosy Roads for the remainder of my tour (1981). Great memories of friends like Mike Gajnos, Chuck Dufresne, and so many more.

Where has this site been and how have I missed it? I was at Fort Allen (my first duty station) from late December 1976-approx June, 1978. Left as RM3. So many fond memories. Some names I remember: Gerry Buck, John and Debbie Sweeney, Stu Williams, Al Patterson, Linda Dunn, Jeannette Woodard (who I think married my roomie Ed Dean before they left but after I did), Jan Ellis, Dan DeShazo, Chief Howell, Ensign Charlene "Charlie" Wright (who was absolutely adored in silence by all the single sailors), Lee Henninger, Lonnie Scrugham, "Mike" Burba...I could go on and on. Someone PLEASE e-mail me with any information about the 2004 reunion. I would glady go back and do it all again, only this time I would stay for my full tour and not call the detailer to leave early (for a fast frigate, of all things) Anyone who remembers me (my nickname was "Radar"..I was in the commcenter in Section II.),please feel free to e-mail me whenever you like and we'll swap stories and memories. God bless to you all!

RM2,stationed at Ft.Allen from 70 to 73. Worked Comm Ctr watch #1 for a while, then worked under Lt. Charles R. Rodriguez in the COMSEC vault. While on vacation this Feb. visited with John Rivett in Ill. and Terry Taylor in Ark. It was really fun getting together after 30 years...looking to renewing more friendships at the reunions!
