My heart goes out to PFC Sheldon's friends and family. I am the wife of an Army soldier of 20 years who has just returned from Afghanistan and is a Desert Storm Veteran. I am also the mother of a new Army soldier who will be going to Iraq this summer as well as the sister of a Marine. This webpage is a beautiful tribute to this young man who gave his life for his country. I just want to let his family know that we the families of American Soldiers know the sacrifices that soldiers make and they are always in our hearts.

somebody once told me that the military doesn't make you a warrior, that you are born with it. Sheldon was a true warrior. Hoowaahhhh

What a great tribute to a fallen soldier! My heart aches for every young soldier who looses his life in combat. However, since Pfc. Eagle was a member of the 101st Screaming Eagles, I share especially in the loss as I was also a Screaming Eagle of the 101st Abn. Division, ableit a long time ago. My deepest condolances to his family.

On The Wings of a Screaming Eagle
As I look to the sky all I can see
Is a beautiful screaming eagle looking straight back at me
His wings spread wide in defiance and pride
His eyes razor sharp as he soars oer the mountainside
So majestic is he, he takes my breath away,
I want to reach out and hold him, to make him stay
To tell him I love him, to kiss him goodbye
To look in his eyes. but not ask him why.
I already know the reason , it's perfectly clear
He was doing his duty, regardless of any fear.
His Commander had called him, had sent him to war
To serve for his country, and he soared out the door.
Now he is gone, he has flown from my sight
But never forgotten he is with me every night,
Every day, every second, every minute he is there.
He gives me quiet strength to help ease my despair.
I know I will see him again someday
In a place that is safe where children can play.
Where love is abundant and hate there is none
But until then I will honor him and each and every one
I will feel him every time the wind brushes my face
When I hear the sounds of a helicopter landing in it's place.
I will know that he is near, always close by
Whispering in my ear "Mamma! Please don't cry."
"I am proud to be an American in a land that is free
That was founded on the blood of people from many a country
I did what was expected, what I was trained to do
It may cost me my life but it's for the Red, White and Blue."
But above and beyond that, it is to protect all of YOU.
In Honor of Sheldon, A 101st Screaming Eagles. Your loss is
deep and we as Americans have also lost someone. We have lost
another American son or daughter. These men and women are the best
of the best. They were not drafted and forced to go, they volunteered
knowing that in this world we live in their chance of a war was
great. My prayers and my tears are with all of you. Cherish their
memory, for as long as they are in our hearts they are never far from
us. They were, they are OUR American Screaming Eagles.
