I am the youngest brother of Oliver Wendol Hill, Top Turret Gunner and Flight Engineer of the Madam Shoo-Shoo B-24J. I am extremely glad to have found this site and have the sad duty of announcing his last flight on April 7, 2001 at the age of 87. Oliver Wendol was extremely proud of his service in this squadron and would tell us various stories along the way. He is survived by his only child Mrs. Millie Ann Beavers of Saginaw, Texas, two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. His memory will always remain embedded in this website. Thanks for letting me pass this information along to the others in his group.

Hi,
My father William (Bill) Reid was a Lt. Navigator Bombadier on a B24 flying out of Italy. I would appreciate any information that people might have regarding his time in the service. He, like many WWII veterans rarely spoke of his experience, what little I have came from my uncle after his death. I know he was with the Holy Joe Squadron from the shoulder patch of his flight jacket. All I know was that he was shot down twice.
He always would buy drinks for Australians and I never knew why. After his death ten years ago his brother relayed; that after being shot down and in a field hospital it came under attack by German forces. Australian soldiers carried him from the field hospital with some losing their lives.
The only things I have are his campaign ribbons, medals, navigators wings. I have some memories of nose art from photos long gone "Bottoms Up" and a donkey kicking (Kick Ass?). I also had a letter returned by a friend of my grandmother from my father to his mother right after he was shot down relaying the loss of his crewmates. It was quite moving and it triggered this search.
Any information would be appreciated.
Thanks to all who served and are serving today.
Bill Jr.
