Randy & Meg, I'm looking forward to "Julia and Julia" too. Meryl Streep as Julia Child is simply inspired. "Henry" is one of the great, extremely creepy horror movies. Which "Frozen" are we talking about. I see several listed on IMDb but little detail on the upcoming ones. I know there's a "Frozen Dead" (or something like that) that's due soon about Nazi zombies. Good buzz.

Mike, as soon as you can, would you review "Julie and Julia" (?) I was watching "Sunday Morning" and the Summer movies were shown; Meryl Streep looks fantastic as Julia Childs, but I wonder if she can throw a hand grenade? This movie looks good. I appreciate your critique. Thanks, Meg

Randy: "Otis": Is this the large person "Carrie-esque" type who wants to go to the Prom with someone in particular? Sounds different. Meg

Meg, if you didn't like the US version of Funny Games, I don't think you will like the German version. But you can give it a try. Speaking of Sundance and IFC they had Henry, Portrait of a Serial Killer. Yikes, that one is disturbing. Even as good as Michael Rooker was Tom Towles as Otis was as good or better. I have not seen the original Vanishing but I will look that up. Mike, have you heard any buzz about "Frozen"? It is suppose to come out in '10 and a couple of people have said it was "upsetting" both the premise and clips they have seen. I looked it up on IMBD, it looks interesting.

ETA, I didn't realize there was a European version of "Funny Games." I'll have to look, the US version of the "Vanishing" was alright, but a bit predictable and heard fantastic things about the Dutch version of the same movie. Maybe it'll show up on IFC or Sundance again sometime soon.

Hi Randy and Mike! I saw "Funny Games" too, Naomi Watts, right? What snoozefest though, I'd rather watch paint dry, in fact I think there's probably a website where you can. Maybe I'll give it another try, it's been relegated to the "another DVD coaster for the coffee table" pile.

Randy, I saw the first Funny Games and found it really disturbing, right up there with the original The Vanishing. Because I like those two films so much--though I'm not sure "like" is really the right word--I have not seen the remakes.

I saw the two Funny Games movies. Same director, ten years apart. I had seen the German version years back. Then, recently saw the U.S. version. And, if memory serves it was shot scene for scene. I bring this up because I found the movie both a tense and great "horror" sort of movie(s). I wanted to suggest it to Meg, I know she likes horror. By the way, Hi, Meg. And, Mike, I wondered if you have seen any other movies by Michael Haneke, the director? I went to IMDB but his roster seemed full of German movies so I thought I would ask if you have seen any and if any of them are worth finding and watching.
